Utensil & Pot Washer Repair in Bristol

A pot washer takes on the heaviest work in the kitchen: gastronorm trays, roasting tins, stock pots and baking sheets. When it stops, someone ends up scrubbing at the sink. I repair front-loading utensil and pot washers across Bristol and the surrounding areas.

Why pot washers fail differently

Pot washers deal with grease, starch and baked-on food that a glasswasher never sees. That load ends up on the filters, the wash pump and the tank, so some faults are caused by build-up rather than a worn-out part.

A large wash pump working against a clogged filter runs hot and wears early. Grease coating a level sensor or temperature probe can convince the machine it is full or up to heat when it isn’t. Where build-up is the actual cause of the fault, I clear it as part of the repair. Regular servicing helps keep that build-up down.

Common faults

Problems I repair

  • Trays still dirtyWeak wash pressure from blocked filters, debris around the pump impeller, a worn pump or partly blocked wash arms.
  • Tank not getting hotScaled or failed elements, faulty thermostats or contactors. Grease won’t shift in a lukewarm tank.
  • Overflowing or not drainingBlocked drains, a failed drain pump or a fault in the level control.
  • Door problemsHeavy doors wear their hinges, springs and seals, leading to leaks and door switch faults.
  • Tripping the supplyLarge machines draw heavy current; a damaged element, loose terminal or water ingress can trip the power.

Day to day

Getting more from your pot washer

Simple habits make a real difference: scrape trays before loading, clean the filters at every tank change, refill the tank when the water is visibly dirty, and avoid overloading racks so the spray reaches every surface.

FAQ

Questions customers ask

Can you repair large front-loading pot washers?

Yes. I work on front-loading utensil and pot washers, as well as dishwashers and glasswashers.

Why are my trays still greasy after a cycle?

Usually the wash water isn’t hot enough, the filters are blocked, the detergent dosing is off or the tank needs changing. If those are fine, the wash pump or arms may be the problem.

Should I repair my old pot washer or replace it?

It depends on the condition of the tank, pump and controls. I’ll give you a straight answer, including when replacement makes more sense.

What does a pot washer repair cost?

A standard visit (Monday to Friday, until 6pm) is £100 including the first hour of labour, then £25 per 30 minutes. No VAT is added, and parts are quoted and agreed before fitting.

Do you service pot washers as well?

Yes. Regular servicing suits pot washers particularly well because of the heavy soiling they handle. See servicing and maintenance.
