Leaks · Bristol
Water spreading across a kitchen floor is a slip hazard for your team, and if it reaches the wiring it becomes an electrical one too. I look for where glasswashers, undercounter dishwashers, passthrough machines and pot washers are leaking and explain what it will take to stop it, across Bristol and the surrounding area.

Safety first
Simple checks
Once the machine is off and cool, look at the door or hood seal. Food, a piece of broken glass or a split in the rubber can stop it sealing. Check that racks sit fully inside and aren’t catching the door or hood, and make sure filters and overflow parts are seated correctly, as some machines overfill or spill when these are left out.
Foam is another common culprit. If someone has added washing-up liquid to the tank, or the wrong detergent has been connected, the foam can push water out past the door or hood. Drain the tank and tell me what was used, and I can advise whether it’s safe to refill.
Common causes
Door and hood seals can harden and split with heat and chemicals. Hoses inside the machine can perish, and clips can loosen with vibration. The shaft seal on the wash pump can wear and let water track along to the motor, which is why a leak sometimes ends with the machine tripping. Overfilling is another cause: a fill valve that doesn’t close fully, or a level sensor that misreads, lets the tank rise until water escapes.
Some leaks only appear during a cycle, others while the machine is standing. Where it’s safe to, I can run the machine with panels off under controlled conditions, to see where the water is coming from before quoting the repair. Drips behind or under a machine are worth reporting too, as they can rot floors and kickboards long before anyone sees a puddle.

FAQ
A little water on the door or hood edge as you open it can be normal, but water pooling on the floor or under the machine isn’t, and it should be looked at.
Heavy use means more foam, more debris on the door seal and more water moving through the machine. Overloaded racks can also deflect spray towards the door or hood. It can still point to a seal or level problem.
Yes. If water reaches a motor, element terminal or wiring, it can trip the RCD. Switch off at the isolator and don’t keep resetting it.
Yes. I replace door seals, hood seals and gaskets on dishwashers, glasswashers and pot washers, with the part quoted before I order it.
